Birdham CE Primary School

Dear Parents & Carers

The more eagle eyed among you may have noticed that I’ve changed our rather chilly-looking winter header for a lovely sunny spring one.  The time of day is different of course, as sunrise is so much earlier today, but a lovely reminder that the days are longer and the sunshine hopefully is here to stay!

Kind regards

Mr McCadden

Parking

A reminder again please to be considerate to our neighbours when parking for school.  They do complain to the office and we have again received such a complaint with photographs showing cars parked on the corners of the surrounding roads.  It is quite rude and therefore embarrassing for the school to have to apologise so often.

The yellow zig-zag lines outside school are there to protect our children and should never be stopped on at any time please.

Dance House

Last week, Miss Parrish took 12 of our children to perform in ‘Dance House’ at the theatre in Worthing.  Miss Parrish said of the children: “I am bursting with pride!  These wonderful twelve Birdham children did an incredible job performing at Worthing Pavilion Theatre last night. After weeks of their hard work, they carried out the most beautiful performance.” All dancers, choreographers and performers, looking after one another and performing with the biggest smile 😊

Paul Ulson Visit

Paul came this morning to talk to children in Goldfinch class about Knights, Castles & Dragons which is connected to our learning topic this term.  We learned about how heavy a knight’s full armour was and even designed our own shields!

A special shout out and well done to Theo (left) for your knowledge and for being Paul’s star of the morning!

Jumble Sale

Our fabulous FPTA ran a jumble sale on Friday to raise funds for our school to raise funds for our new early years playground.  ‘Fill a bag for life for a fiver’ was the theme and it was very popular!

There were some great bargains to be had while raising money for your favourite school!  Win win!

Thank you to all those who supported us. 😊

 ACTIVE8 MINDS

Our new wraparound care providers have now started their before and after school provision in the Rainbow Room and feedback has been really positive both to the office and to Active8 Minds directly.

If your child would like to try the club, please click on the link below.

Head Lice

A case of headlice has been found in Kingfisher class.  Please check your child’s hair thoroughly and treat using a proprietary treatment if required.

Headlice are not fussy – they like boys as much as girls and clean hair as much as not so clean!

 Swimming

It is swimming season at school and, weather permitting, we will aim for every class to swim on the same day every week.  Please ensure that your child has their swimming kit in school on this day, while we are happy to deliver kits to children during the day, time pressure in the office means that we are unable to ring to ask for swimming kits to be delivered.

We do have a very limited supply of spares, but we can’t guarantee they will fit!  A reminder also that every child must have their own swimming hat, preferably the fabric type.

If anyone has any swimwear in good condition that their child may have grown out of, then please would you consider donating them to us to use as spares?

We will be sending out a separate letter regarding swimming pool rules and etiquette.  As we have done in the past, we will be asking for a voluntary donation of £5 per child to contribute towards our running costs for this year.

AND FINALLY...

You are never too old to dream a new dream or set another goal. 😊
