Attendance

Our school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm. This ensures children are learning for a total of 32.5 hours every week.

Parents are reminded that for all schools in England, there is no entitlement to holiday during term time.  All requests for absence during term time are discretionary, and most requests will be automatically unauthorised.

From Sep-24, all requests of 10 sessions or more, (i.e. 5 days) will be referred to West Sussex Local Authority and are likely to result in a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) being issued by them.   As required by law, children are taught in school for a total of 32.5 hours per week.  Additionally, if children arrive after the register has closed (9.05am), these sessions are now also considered as unauthorised absences by the DfE, and count towards the 10 sessions.

This is an agreed policy between all Chichester Primary Schools.
